The move was a success. Sort of. I packed everything, I moved everything, but the excitement was cut when we received the heartbreaking news that my Uncle Mike passed away unexpectedly last week. The funeral was Saturday.
Uncle Mike was my mom’s older brother. God, he was such a character. He was a big, tall man with a big, bushy beard. His voice was booming yet gravelly and when he chuckled you could do nothing but laugh along with him. He had such a dry sense of humor. Mike had multiple nicknames for everyone and he applied them liberally. Mine was “Moley”. My brother still calls me that, actually. Mike was truly the patriarch of the Patrick family. If you needed help, you could always count on him to step in and lend a hand, or his truck, or simply his advice. He worked hard and played hard and pushed himself to the limit. I think he was so busy taking care of everyone else that he often forgot to take care of himself. That was the nature of Big Mike. I will miss him. Very much. I love you, Big Mike.
Peace and Love
