Butterflies and Buttercream

I have butterflies in my stomach. I start teaching yoga on Wednesday. As with anything new and different, I am experiencing a level of nervousness. But I’m also excited. Nervously excited. Excitedly nervous. Darn butterflies.

I had a moment of inspiration this weekend while shopping for canvases. I’ve decided that with each commissioned work I do, I’m going to also do a miniaturized version for the client as well—a pocket painting if you will. I’m not sure how successful this endeavor will be, but I have high hopes. Plus little canvases were on sale at Dick Blick and those of you who know my love of all things miniature will understand that I cannot resist them.

Also in the world of Molly and creativity, I’ve become smitten with this cake from Dean & Deluca. I must, nay, WILL make this cake for someone. It’s too adorable not to recreate. You think it’s a purse, but it isn’t. It’s 2 pounds of sugary couture. Do you ever watch Ace of Cakes on the Food Network? That show is like porn to me. I can’t get enough of cake decorating. Although...it is very expensive…And high in calories…’cause I’m what you call a “sampler”...

I’ve made some fun new friends through work. We have a new RA in the music research department and she in turn introduced me to her boyfriend and all of his friends. Last weekend we went sledding and played board games and while that might sound lame to some, it was a breath of fresh air to me. I’ve been stuck in the adult social rut of going out for dinner and drinks, so it was so nice to do things that remind me that I’m still young and silly. Apparently a limbo contest is in the works for next weekend…

These fun new peeps have also seduced me into watching Lost again. I watched season one, but then missed a few episodes and had no clue what was going on and gave up. But they’ve pulled me back in. Will the passengers really be rescued? Who are the Oceanic Six? What’s up with Jack’s facial hair? These are questions I’m now asking and feel compelled to answer every Thursday at 8:00 p.m. CST.

Peace and Love
