No More Pretzels for a While

Things have slowed down a little at work and I’m actually getting lunch breaks every once in a while. We’re anxiously awaiting approval from our Institutional Review Board (IRB) for a new study. The big man himself stops by my office almost daily for updates. I don’t have the heart to tell him he can check it online himself. I like our little chats. Today he stopped by and asked me about it just as I was shoving a pretzel into my mouth. I never realized how excruciatingly long it takes me to chew a pretzel until that moment. I’ve decided not to eat at my desk until the study is approved. Cross your fingers that we get approval soon.

The new painting is going well. I wish my weekends weren’t so full so I could spend some more time with it, but I’m off to Des Moines this weekend for a conference on “Parenting Healthy Children.” I get to hand out fliers about cochlear implants and infant hearing screening on Saturday. But only for the morning. I hope to go see Paul at the Cheesecake Factory and then knock out some Christmas shopping in the afternoon. Then it’s back to Iowa City for a friend’s birthday party. I love birthdays. And parties for that matter.

Sadly, my Hawkeyes aren’t doing as well as I would like this season, but I see a lot of young players with potential. I won’t get to go to the game this weekend, but I’ll be cheering from Des Moines.

Go Hawks!
