Ahhhh! I’m getting pretty excited! I took my car in today to get it checked out. Tonight Melissa and I are getting together to plan our route and organize music and food and such. This is going to be so much fun!
To recap the weekend, I went to the conference (which was abysmal). I think a total of five people stopped to talk to me at my booth and they had no interest in cochlear implants. Instead, they asked me who cuts my hair and if I was related to the Pettits in Carroll, Iowa. What a waste of time. And I missed one of the most exciting Hawkeye games this season. Grrr. So I went out Saturday night with Melissa to check out all the Halloween costumes and grab a drink. While we were walking down the street, a group of guys passed us and one of them leaned over to me and said, “Hey, you dropped something…” I was looking around to see what I dropped when he followed up with-- “…my jaw.” By the time what he had said sunk in, he was long gone. It was the best (and worst) pick up line I have heard in a long time.
The evening only got better. We decided to chill at Joe’s Place. We sat at the bar watching football, chatting, and lazily checking out people as they came in. After a while a group of guys dressed as nuns came up to the bar to get drinks. They proceeded to hit on us…dressed as nuns…speaking in falsetto voices…yeah. I think I’m going to avoid going downtown around Halloween. All the crazies come out.
Well, I probably won’t write again until after my trip. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween. (Especially Pirate Nicholas!)
Cheers
