"Vacation All I Ever Wanted, Vacation Had to Get Away..."

Gotta respect the Go-Gos. And now I will have “Vacation” stuck in my head for the rest of the night…and probably yours too if you’re reading this. Sorry. Good goin’, Molly.

Well, I’ve been on vacation for a few days. I didn’t go anywhere. I’m not doing anything of importance. I’ve slept in until 11 just about every day. I cleaned my apartment from top to bottom. Let’s see, on the Fourth I went up to visit Pat and Kim and grilled out with their family. We went into Cedar Rapids to see Bill and Hill at Green Square Park and then watched the fireworks. In the middle of the fireworks show some jerk who lived in the apartment building we were sitting by dropped a full beer bottle on us off his balcony. It shattered everywhere and poor barefooted Pat got glass embedded in his feet. When we went to go report the incident to the nearby cop, we were scolded for not moving our chairs. It was not a pleasant experience. But I got the building address and the property management’s name (the cop wouldn’t give me his name…). Kim and Pat were going to report the incident to the police on Thursday. I hope they did. That beer bottle could have landed on a kid or something.

Thursday I went to yoga class and for the first time was able to do a forearm stand. That may not sound like a big deal, but it is. I’m not someone who’s comfortable with being upside down, so any kind of handstand, headstand, etc makes me quite nervous. It’s taken me two and a half years of classes to be able to do this. It’s a small personal victory. (Yay me!)

Yesterday I logged some studio hours. I have my friend’s daughter’s portrait half-way done. But I’m not sure if I like it so I may redo it. I went to Wally World and bought a chair for my drafting table. It has wheels that don’t really stay in very well. I discovered this valuable tidbit of information when I went to roll across the room, lost two wheels and biffed it on the cement basement floor. It was painful, but hilarious. I may think about getting a different chair…or a thick rug for the floor.

Today I did nothing.
I laid on my couch.
I took two naps.
It.
Was.
Awesome.

I did get up and go to my friend April’s birthday party. There was cake. There were lawn games. Both make for a good evening. There was a lot of talk of weddings and babies, but I think I handled it pretty well. I tried to start convos about a few different topics, but it didn’t work. I can only take grown-up talk in small doses, so I called it an early evening tonight. I’m probably going to just go to bed. Those two naps wore me out. (hee hee!)

Peace and Love
